Barbara Matthews is an accomplished capital markets executive and governance strategist with extensive experience guiding companies through the transition from privately held to publicly traded. She previously served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary at Hagerty Inc. (HGTY), where she co-led the company’s successful public listing through a SPAC merger and played a key role in developing a high-performing, nationally recognized corporate board.

Barbara brings deep transactional and operational expertise, having led major acquisitions, complex joint ventures, international market entries, and large-scale capital programs—including a $700 million equipment-leasing acquisition and a $200 million growth investment. Her background also includes multinational regulatory navigation across the U.S., Canada, Latin America, and Asia.

At Eliakim Capital, Barbara advises clients on capital markets readiness, governance architecture, strategic growth, and the execution frameworks required to support major liquidity events.

She holds a J.D. from DePaul University College of Law, a B.S. in International Business from Ferris State University, and NACD directorship credentials.
